Crossout’s major October update has been rescheduled for October 22 because of technical reasons, Gaijin announced October 12. The update includes a graphics overhaul and a redesigned Clan Wars format, so the delay affects more than a routine patch day.

The studio says previously announced events will be extended, while Clan Wars will be unavailable from October 19 to October 25 as the new format is prepared. The first season of the updated mode is now set to begin October 26. Gaijin also says it will take steps to compensate players for inconvenience and connection problems after technical issues are resolved.

A bigger update means a bigger failure window

The planned graphics changes reach across the game’s maps, lighting, shadows, fog and water. Crossout’s October preview also describes upgraded DLSS and FSR support, a move away from DirectX 11, and new visual settings. That is a substantial technical shift for a game built around players assembling vehicles from many parts and taking them into shared matches.

Graphics overhauls can make an older game feel renewed, but they also change what hardware it supports and how it performs on systems that have been reliable for years. The studio has recommended that players update GPU drivers. That is sensible preparation, though it also means the update needs clear system requirements and honest communication about what older PCs can expect.

The Clan Wars rework adds another layer of risk. Competitive players build routines around seasons, ratings and team availability. A delayed format means those players wait longer for the new structure, while a transition window temporarily removes the mode they use today.

Why a delay can protect player trust

There is no useful prize for releasing a broken overhaul on the original date. If technical problems affect servers or make the game difficult to play, launching on schedule can create a worse experience than asking players to wait another week.

That does not mean every delay is painless. Players had planned around the announced date, and some may have been saving time for the new season. The extended events help maintain activity, but the studio still needs to deliver a stable patch and explain what specifically changed in the schedule.

The October 1 preview already warned that planned features could change before release. That caveat is appropriate for a large update, but it also raises expectations for the final notes: players need to know which parts of the planned visual and competitive overhaul made it into the build.

The temporary schedule is worth stating clearly for competitive groups. Clan Wars remains in its prior format until the transition period, then becomes unavailable for a week while the new structure is prepared. The revised season is planned to begin October 26, with initial ratings based on the preceding Gauntlet season. That gives teams a rough timeline, but not a substitute for the final rules and matchmaking details they will need to plan their roster.

Our take

We would rather see Crossout delay a major technical update than ship it while the team knows it has problems. The graphics and mode changes sound broad enough that the consequences of a rushed release could reach nearly every player.

The studio now has a smaller but still important job: make the new date credible. That means communicating any further changes early, keeping players informed about the Clan Wars downtime, and explaining what compensation will look like after the connection problems are fixed.

If October 22 brings a stable Wasteland and a competitive mode that works as described, the extra week will have been useful. If the delay only moves the same problems to a new calendar square, players will reasonably wonder what the wait accomplished.
